Laws that have been repealed or amended have a note to that effect immediately imder them with a reference to the repealing or amending law, and under each law which is at present in force is a list of the existing regulations by-laws, proclamations and appointments made for the purposes, or under the provisions, of that law. Proclamations of a purely temporary nature are not given and, with a few exceptions, appointments made by name and not by office ure omitted. The references are to the page of the Oovernment Gazette, on which the law regulation or by-law was first published. In the case of the Orders in Council prior to the date of the issue of the first Government Gazette, 1888, no reference <5an of course be given ; these Orders in Council will be found in a compilation prepared in 1892, and issued from the Government Printing Office. The date that immediately follows the title of the laws which are at present in force in the State is that upon which they took effect. It has not been considered necessary to prepare a list of the reserves, other than Forest Eeserves, made under the provisions of Section 8 of The Land Enactment, 1903, nor of the Eules imder the Post Office Order in Council, 1895^ made by way of amendment or addition to the Postal Guide.
