The aims of the Star Trek Museum of Science are to promote greater awareness of the Star Trek universe among the general public, promote the study of the scientific and engineering technologies found in Star Trek and encourage interest in the real-life physics, astronomy, information technology and other sciences that are the foundation of those technologies. In particular, we hope that this Museum will help advance knowledge in those spheres of science to a level where science can serve to uphold the principles of Star Trek - future generations free from the scourge of war, faith in the fundamental rights of sentient beings, in the dignity and worth of all life forms, in the equal rights of members of planetary systems large and small, and social progress and better standards of living on all worlds.
This Museum has Second Life's largest collection of Star Trek-related information, images, sound files and computer programmes on all aspects of the science of Star Trek - from starship design, engineering and computer technology to astronomy, cosmology and quantum physics.
This Museum was developed and is run by personnel from SL STARFLEET. SL STARFLEET is the Second Life counterpart to the real life organization STARFLEET: The International Star Trek Fan Association, Inc. This unique organization has over 240 chapters worldwide linking almost 4000 members around the world.
